With a total area of 157 hectares, Bali Botanic Garden owns more than 2000 species of plants. The Bali Botanic Garden has some treats in store for more serious bird watchers, including some typically Australian species near the western border (such as the brown honey eaters and the golden whislers) and typically Asian species near the eastern border (such as long-tailed shrikes, wood peckers and bulbuls). Ninety-seven species birds have been recorded at the garden many different habitats suitable for bird watching, from open lawn to dense forest. addition, the boundary between the Botan Garden and the adjascent Nature Reserve not distinct so that forested parts of th garden merge with those of the reserve. Thes attributes combined provide superb opportu nities for observing a diversity of birds in the natural habitat. For those species which ar too shy to be seen, at least their calls can be enjoyed.
