Amed, Tulamben and Jemeluk
Amed, Tulamben and Jemeluk
Amed is located in Purwakerti village, Abang sub district, about 78 km from Denpasar. The main attraction of Amed is life under the sea with charming coral reefs and attractive colourful fish of various types.
Tulamben is located near Amed. The word ‘tulamben’ is derived from the word Batulambih (batu means rock and lambih means excessive), meaning excessive rocks caused by the erup-tion of Mount Agung that remain till today. In the course of time people mispronounced it until it became Tulamben. If you watch the beach carefully, you will notice that it is comprised of small rocks. Like Ahmed, Tulamben also offers exotic under the sea life with the wreck of the US Liberty from World War II.
Jemeluk is located about 10 km from Tulamben, or 100 km from Denpasar. The word ‘jemeluk’ comes from the word ‘seluk’ (Balinese) or ‘teluk’ (Indonesian) which means strait. Jemeluk is very famous for its life under the sea. With its shallow and crystal clear water it is safe to dive and enjoy the luxury of under water view, the tropical sea fish and other sea creatures. Aside from its under water scenery, the view around this beach is gorgeous. Green hill and valleys surround this beach.
