Monkey Forest

This monkey forest is located in the village of Padang Tegal, Ubud sub district, Gianyar, 26 km from Denpasar. This small forest is occupied by hundreds of harmless monkeys. Aside from a home to monkeys, this forest is also a cemetery for the villagers with a temple standing next to it. Visiting this forest means doing three things at the same time, namely, playing with the mon-keys, coming close to the Balinese grave yard and visiting the Balinese temple with its unique architecture. If you are lucky you may see a ritual in the temple called odalan or the Balinese cre-mation ceremony (ngaben).
